Symptoms

Walk-in cooler not cooling?

Temperature creeping up

The box drifts above 41°F. Common causes: a dirty condenser coil, a failed fan motor, a low refrigerant charge, a bad thermostat or a door that does not seal.

Ice on the evaporator coil

Air cannot pass through an iced coil. We check the defrost timer and heaters, evaporator fans, the refrigerant charge and door gaskets.

Water on the floor

A clogged or frozen drain line, a failed drain line heater or an iced coil melting off. We clear the drain and fix the cause.

Unit short-cycling or never stops

The condensing unit turns on and off every few minutes or runs nonstop. We check controls, pressures, the condenser and the compressor.

Noisy or dead fan motors

Evaporator and condenser fan motors wear out. A failed fan means warm product or a compressor working too hard.

Door will not seal

Torn gaskets, sagging hinges or a failed door heater let warm air in and build ice. We inspect and repair the door.

Maintenance

Prevent the Friday-night breakdown

Most walk-in failures start small: a dirty condenser coil, a slow drain, a worn gasket. Scheduled maintenance with coil cleaning, drain checks and gasket inspection catches them before you lose product. We set a schedule for your location.

How much does a walk-in cooler service call cost?

The diagnostic service call is $125. After we find the problem, you get the repair price and decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

What temperature should a walk-in cooler hold?

The FDA Food Code requires cold-held food at 41°F or below. If your walk-in runs above that, call us.

Do you install new walk-in coolers?

No. We diagnose, repair and maintain walk-in coolers that are already installed.

Why is there ice on my walk-in evaporator coil?

Usually a defrost problem, a failed evaporator fan, a low refrigerant charge or a door that lets warm, humid air in. A diagnosis will tell which one.
